Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague takes a look at the big stories making headlines in Spain this week. Oakland Raiders Jerseys . Diego Simeone won praise from the Spanish press for his brave team selection against Espanyol after their 3-1 win last Saturday, in contrast to Barcelonas limp defeat to Real Sociedad on the same day.And after Simeones Atletico knocked Barca out of the Champions League in midweek, the Catalan papers were scathing in their assessment of the La Liga leaders. Recent results mean its still all to play for in La Liga, with Barcelona three points clear of Atleti, and Real Madrid still in the hunt.Looking across AS, Sport, Marca and more, Balague discusses the other big talking points, including Lionel Messis dip in form and Florentino Perezs potential plan to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.Hit play on the video above to watch a full round-up of all the top stories in Spain Also See: LISTEN: La Liga Weekly Liverpool will be favourites La Liga Fixtures La Liga Table Doug Martin Jersey . - The Raiders have released guard Mike Brisiel after two disappointing seasons in Oakland. Dwayne Harris Raiders Jersey . Bryce Harper? He also came into Wednesday without a long ball and hadnt driven in a run. He was hitting .160, had nearly three times as many strikeouts as hits and was dropped to seventh in the batting order.DORTMUND, Germany -- Borussia Dortmund is in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the second consecutive season -- although it looks far less intimidating than the team that reached the final last year. Crippled by a series of injuries to key players and struggling at home this season, Dortmund was far from convincing in a 2-1 defeat to Zenit on Wednesday. However, the 4-2 victory in the first leg in St. Petersburg was enough for Juergen Klopps side to win 5-4 on aggregate and seal its place in Fridays draw. Hulk scored in the 16th for Zenit and captain Sebastian Kehl equalized for Dortmund in the 38th. Substitute Jose Rondon scored with a diving header in the 73rd to seal Zenits win on the night, though it was an empty victory. Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller turned away a late shot by Igor Smolnikov to prevent an even bigger defeat. In the nights other match, Manchester United advanced with a 3-0 win over Olympiakos, courtesy of a hat trick by Robin van Persie and a 3-2 victory on aggregate. "We surely didnt play a great game but we are in the quarterfinals," Kehl said. "That goal by Kehl allowed us to calm down," said Klopp, who acknowledged the quality of the Russian side. "They can really play and they gave us some problems." Dortmund will be without striker Robert Lewandowski for the first leg of the quarterfinals after he picked up his third yellow card of the competition for handling the ball. "I thought I had been pushed from behind and thats why handled the ball," Lewandowski said. &quuot; The main thing is that we went through. Jordy Nelson Jersey. ." "The yellow card was laughable," Klopp said. With its comfortable lead from the first leg, Dortmund allowed Zenit to get into the match quickly, through a spectacular solo effort by Hulk. The Brazil striker shook off Kehl and cut inside past two defenders to blast a left-foot shot that swerved away from goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller on its way into the net. Zenit threatened a couple more times before Kehl got the equalizer. Marcel Schmelzer broke down the left flank and swung in a high cross. Kehl raced into the area and rose above the defence to send in a header that keeper Vyacheslav Malafeev got both hands to -- but could only push into the net. It was the captains first Champions League goal in 30 matches. "They have some good players up front but we didnt allow them too many chances," Kehl said. Early in the second half, Hulk unleashed a fierce free kick from about 30 metres (yards) that sailed high. Rondon scored Zenits second following a cross by Domenico Criscito from just outside the penalty area on the left -- evading defender Mats Hummels to head home from close range. Zenit, coached by Sergei Semak on an interim basis until Andre Villas-Boas takes over when the team returns home, kept up the pressure and Igor Smolnikov sent a low shot that Weidenfeller barely managed to turn away in the 88th. The last time Dortmund made it to the last eight in two straight seasons was 16 years ago. It won the title in 1997 and then reached the semifinals. Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '

MONTREAL - If Dale Weiss was feeling any pressure in facing the Boston Bruins, he channelled it in the right direction. Custom San Francisco 49ers Jerseys .The checking forward scored his first goal of the season on a penalty shot and had an assist as the Montreal Canadiens downed the tired, injury-wracked Bruins 5-1 on Thursday night for their fourth straight win.I think as a team that was our best outing, said Weiss. Just a complete game. Our goaltender didnt have to stand on his head tonight. He made some great saves, but our offence was there. I just felt we had a complete effort from everybody. It was Weisss first meeting with the Bruins since Montreals seven-game win in the playoffs last spring. In the handshake line after Game 7, Milan Lucic reportedly threatened to kill Weiss the next time the teams met after the two battled each other throughout the series.Weiss was scratched for Montreals 6-4 win over Boston on Oct. 16. But other than a first period scuffle with Gregory Campbell, Weiss stuck to hockey and was named first star of the game. Our whole team gets up for Boston, he said. Its a playoff atmosphere every night. The crowd was into it from the start. Its just pressure on myself. I feel Ive been playing some good games lately, turning in the right direction, and I finally got rewarded for it.No one was happier for Weiss than Max Pacioretty, who scored his seventh and eighth goals of the campaign. It makes me so happy because hes such a great teammate and such a great player, said Pacioretty. You like seeing guys like that have a lot of success. He does what hes asked to do. He could play two minutes or 20. He gives it his all.Lars Eller, with his third goal in three games, and Jiri Sekac, with the teams first power-play goal since Oct. 18, also scored for Montreal (12-4-1). It was also Sergei Gonchars debut after he was acquired Tuesday in a trade with Dallas. This is the game weve been searching for a while, said Pacioretty. Weve been relying too much on (goalie) Carey Price the last couple of games. It feels really good to put some in for him and take some pressure off him for once.Dougie Hamilton scored a power play goal for Boston (10-8-0), which lost badly for a second game in a row after a 6-1 pasting in Toronto on Wednesday night. The Bruins, playing without injured captain Zdeno Chara and top centre David Krejci, were in a third game in four nights. The Bruins had won five in a row before crossing into Canada, then got outscored 11-2 in two games. For the most part, teams that have to go through these kind of situations normally grow from it, and that’s what we hope we can do here, said coach Claude Julien. We need to get better, we know that.A little bit of adversity, or a lot of it, whatever you want to call it, you need to use it to your advantage.Montreal has won eight of the nine regular season meetings with Boston since Feb. 6, 2013 Tuukka Rask was pulled after allowing four goals on 16 shots in Toronto, so Niklas Svedberg got the start for Boston and faced 34 shots. Price made 21 saves for Montreal. The Bruins came out of the first period with a 1-0 lead on Hamiltons point from Patrice Bergerons faceoff win only four seconds into a man advantage at 16:04.Fatigue started to show in the second as Boston took three straight penalties. The first was a penalty shot at 2:31, as Dennis Seidenberg lost the puck and then tripped Weiss. He beat Svedberg between the pads.Confusion behind the Boston net let Brendan Gallagher poke a pass in front for Eller to score at the 13:00 mark. Pacioretty added one on the rush at 14:57 on a one-timer of a feed from Weiss. Pacioretty was at the doorstep to get a stick on a David Desharnais pass that deflected off Hamiltons skate 5:09 into the third.Sekac took a Nathan Beaulieu feed and went in alone on the left side to score on a wrist shot on a power play at 14:06. The goal ended a 0-for-27 run without a power-play goal for Montreal. It was only their fourth this season and three have come against Boston. Gonchar had the Montreal power play looking livelier all night, although he wasnt involved in the goal. He got 20:08 of ice time and had three shots on goal.Hes awesome, Pacioretty said of Gonchar. Hes had so much success on the power play throughout his career that he jumped right in and we felt comfortable right away. Its only a matter of time before we start putting them in and getting our power play rolling. Youve got to love the way our power play was, especially for his first night with us.Notes — With Gonchar in, Montreal dressed seven defencemen, with Beaulieu taking some early shifts on left wing on the fourth line. Gonchar played on the first power-play unit with Andrei Markov. . .Bostons Matt Fraser was knocked wobbly from a punch by Beaulieu during a second-period fight, but he was back for the third. . . The teams meet again Nov. 22 in Boston. Fred Warner Jersey . Right-hander Todd Redmond took the loss. Jose Bautista hit his second home run of the spring. Here are a handful of tidbits from around camp: Hutchison impressive The Blue Jays are being cautious when talking about their young arms but internally, excitement is building over the way Drew Hutchison is looking and performing this spring. Frank Gore Jersey .The Hanwha Eagles said the team was impressed with Morgans contact ability and base-running skills. The 34-year-old debuted with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2007 and hit . Jeremy Lin is still on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers, even after the Houston Rockets failed to land coveted forward Chris Bosh in free agency. The Rockets still plan to execute the trade that will send the point guard to Los Angeles for cash, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Saturday. The people requested anonymity because the trade has not been officially announced. Rockets GM Daryl Morey plunged into the free agent market with designs on adding a third star to play with James Harden and Dwight Howard. He made a brief overture to LeBron James and hosted Carmelo Anthony for a visit, but both of those efforts were rebuffed. While James mulled his future this week, Morey swung for the fences with a four-year max offer to Bosh, the versatile forward who was credited with being the defensive backbone during the Heats run to four straight NBA Finals. To create the salary cap room to make the offer, Morey reached an agreement to trade Lin, who will make about $15 million this season in the last year of a deal that counts only $8 million against the cap, to the Lakers, who have the cap room to absorb Lins contract without sending much back in return. When James chose to return to Cleveland on Friday, the path appeared to be clearing for the Texas-born Bosh to join up with the Rockets and vault them into contender status in the powerful Western Conference. But Heat President Pat Riley quickly recovered from James rejection and convinced Bosh to stay in Miami with a whopping five-year, $118 million offer. The bold move left the Rockets on the outside looking in again, but Morey had no second thoughts aboutt dumping Lin, who didnt mesh well playing in the same backcourt with the equally aggressive Harden. Jimmie Ward 49ers Jersey. The deal allows Morey to stay in the hunt for other stars on the market, like Cleveland free agent Luol Deng. He also could use the extra room because valuable small forward Chandler Parsons has signed a three-year, $46 million offer sheet to join the Dallas Mavericks. Morey has until Sunday night to decide if he will match the offer to keep Parsons in Houston or allow him to join Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas. Meanwhile, the Lakers were able to get their hands on a talented point guard who gives them a different dimension at the position and could help ease the scoring burden on Bryant, who only played in six games last year because of injury. Lin earned his big contract with the Rockets thanks to a fantastic midseason run with the New York Knicks in 2012, when the "Linsanity" phenomenon was born. Hes the kind of dynamic, shoot-first point guard that has become more and more popular in the league over the last few seasons, which should help the Lakers, who have pass-first Kendall Marshall and the oft-injured Steve Nash on the roster as well. Lin averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 assists last season, but he lost his starting job alongside the defensively deficient Harden because coach Kevin McHale preferred Patrick Beverleys tenacity on that end of the floor. But with Bryant likely needing some time to ease back into things after missing almost all of last season and gifted offensive big man Pau Gasol likely on his way out, Lin will provide some much-needed offensive punch to a rebuilding Lakers roster. Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '

CALGARY - With their momentum suddenly halted, the Calgary Stampeders are collecting themselves for what will be a tough fight for the West Division over the final third of the regular season. Phillip Gaines Jersey .At 10-2, Calgary still tops the CFL and West Division standings. But a 31-15 loss Sunday to the Alouettes in Montreal was a dash of cold water in the face of leagues top team.A week earlier, Calgary had to overcome a 19-point deficit at halftime to beat the Toronto Argonauts. The Stampeders have six games remaining against three division opponents, starting Saturday at home against the B.C. Lions (7-5). The Lions downed the host Stamps 25-24 on Aug. 1 for Calgarys only other loss this season. The Stampeders twice face the Saskatchewan Roughriders (9-3) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-6) before the season finale against the Lions.Calgary is two points up on the Roughriders, four on the Edmonton Eskimos and six on the Lions. The Stampeders swept the season series against the Eskimos. This home stretch will determine who gets what in terms of a playoff berth, home playoff games and the bye to the West Division final. This is the best part of the season, running back Jon Cornish said. Over the last few years, Ive sort of realized that nothing really matters except for these last six games. With that in mind, I think this team is really going to prepare for that. Were going to be ready to take on all these opponents because were playing great teams.Cornish, the CFLs most outstanding player in 2013 and leading rusher the last two seasons, will play Saturday after sitting out the game in Montreal.Cornish didnt travel with the team in order to heal undisclosed aches and pains. The 29-year-old from New Westminster, B.C., missed six games in July and August with concussion symptoms.I dont think Ill have to miss any more games, Cornish said. Thats why I took this time, so I would be ready. These teams are going to be ready to play us, so I want to be ready for them.Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell isnt ready to return, which means Drew Tate gets his second straight start of the season. Mitchell sprained his ankle and stretched a ligament in his left leg late in the game versus the Argos.Tate took first-team reps Tuesday, while Mitchell practised lightly wearing a brace on his left leg.Hes progressing at a good tempo, Stampeder coach John Hufnagel said of Mitchell. Probably will not make this game, maybe as a No. 3 guy. Hopefully hell be full-go for the next game.Calgary has built a reputation for winning despite injuries. They were 14-4 last season despite using three different starting quarterbacks. But the Stampeders may have neared the limit of their depth Sunday in Montreal. Not only were the starting quarterback and star running back absent, but leading receiver Marquay McDaniel was on the six-game injured list with a broken bone in his hand from the Toronto game. The Stampeders managed two touchdowns on the ground and less than 300 yards on offence, but it was on the other side of the ball where Calgary was uncharacteristically porous.A team allowing an average of 18 points per game gave up 31. Montreals offence had the ball for almost 38 minutes, while Calgarys time of possession was just over 23.Team sack leader Charleston Hughes (foot), defensive tackle Demonte Bolden (leg) and Hughess backup Ben DAguilar (knee) were also injured in the Toronto game. That trio didnt play in Montreal and they wont Saturday against the Lions. Bolden is on the six-game injured list. Its further decimated a defensive line that was already without starters Micah Johnson (knee) and Corey Mace (foot).Thats no excuse for the way we played, defensive end Shawn Lemon said. It doesnt matter who is out. If youre on this team we believe we can step up. I take it upon myself as well. I didnt play up to my expectations and I wasnt an impact in the last game.Just got to gain momentum back. We took a step back last week so just come out and get back to what we were doing the first 11 weeks of the season. The Stampeders added defensive lineman Caesar Rayford to the practice roster Tuesday. He played seven games and recorded five tackles for the NFLs Dallas Cowboys last season. The six-foot-seven University of Washington product also spent time on the Lions practice roster in 2008. Eddie Yarbrough Bills Jersey .com) - Jeff Teague finished with a game-high 26 points and eight assists as the Atlanta Hawks held off the Utah Jazz, 98-92, on Friday. AJ McCarron Bills Jersey . Mark Teahen scored the go-ahead run in the home seventh on an error by Scott Sizemore, who had knotted the game with a solo homer in the previous half- inning. Paul Konerko then hit an RBI single which proved to be the winning run. They waited until the free agent market opened to announce the deal, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed their kicker Chris Milo. Milo is entering his fourth CFL season, all with the Roughriders after the team selected himm in the fourth round of the 2011 Canadian Draft. Russell Bodine Jersey. BALTIMORE -- The Chicago White Sox had yielded 14 hits, including a career-high 11 by starter Chris Sale, yet still stood poised to end their four-game losing streak. Pernell McPhee Redskins Jersey . And then the magic vanished. Chris Davis hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the ninth inning off Ronald Belisario to doom to the White Sox to a 6-4 defeat Monday night. Chicago had no right to be in position to win, given that the Orioles got a hit in every inning and finished with three home runs. Sale, who came in 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA, worked out of one jam after another in six innings. The left-hander walked one, hit a batter and had a season-low three strikeouts. "My own manager was calling me Houdini," Sale said. "I just got lucky in some cases. I should have lost that game easily in terms of giving up more runs." Davis was excluded from the starting lineup after batting just .130 in his previous 14 starts. Called upon by manager Buck Showalter with runners on first and second and one out in the ninth, Davis launched a 3-2 pitch into the right-field seats. "I made a mistake with it," Belasario (3-4) said. "For me, its pretty tough. Im trying to get my job done, but things happen." Davis, who led the majors in home runs and RBIs last year, started the game in the dugout with a .216 batting average and 78 strikeouts in 218 at-bats. Adam Jones and Caleb Joseph also homered for the Orioles, who trailed 4-2 in the eighth before rallying to hand the White Sox their eighth straight road loss. Brad Brach (1-0) pitched two hitless innings for Baltimore. Jose Abreu hit his 22nd homer and drove in three runs for Chicago, which went 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position. "Bad times are part of this and I think what we have to do is we have to play together," Abreu said. "We have to get united. Tough times are going to be there. Thats part of the game." Chicago trailed 2-1 until Abreu led off the sixth with a drive over the wall in centre. Dayan Viciedo followed with a double and Conor Gillaspie chased Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen with a run-scoring double. An RBI double by Abreu made it 4-2 in the seventh. The rookie ranks third in the AL in home runs and his 60 RBIs is tied for third. Joseph hit his second homer in two games, a solo shot off Zach Putnam in the eighth. The drive capped the rookies first career three-hit game. That set the stage for Davis 13th home run. He hit 53 last year. "I was really proud of the at-bat," Davis said. "After I got down 0-1, I was really trying to elevate the ball, get a pitch out over the plate. I was able to lay off some pitches, fouled one off that probably wasnt a strike, but at that point I was just trying to protect." Baltimore went up 2-0 in the first inning when Steve Pearce walked and Jones followed with a drive to centre that bounced off the top of the wall, only the fifth home run allowed by Sale this season. Chicago got a run back in the third. Adam Eaton reached on an infield hit, Gordon Beckham doubled and Abreu hit a run-scoring groundout. In the bottom half, Sale struck out Delmon Young and J.J. Hardy after the Orioles put runners on the corners with one out. One inning later, Baltimore loaded the bases with one out before Pearce hit a short fly and Jones struck out. The trend continued in the fifth, when three straight singles filled the bases with no outs. After Manny Machado hit into a force at the plate, Jonathan Schoop bounced into a 4-6-3 double play. NOTES: Jones HR was his 151st with Baltimore, tying Chris Hoiles for 10th place on the Orioles career list. Of his 14 HRs this season, 10 have been solo shots. ... Eaton has reached base in 18 straight games, the longest streak by a White Sox left-handed batter since Juan Pierre had an 18-game run in 2011. ... Miguel Gonzalez makes his second career start against the White Sox on Tuesday night. Lefty Jose Quintana starts for Chicago. .... Pearces career-high run of five straight multihit games ended. ... The crowd of 17, 931 pushed the season total at Camden Yards of 1 million after 33 home dates, two games ahead of last year. Kevin Hogan Jersey . Those cheers seemed more special this time because the captains run on Broadway could soon be over. The adoration surely sounded much nicer to Callahan than all the recent trade talk. Kevin Hogan Redskins Jersey .com) - Matt Beleskey has helped give the Anaheim Ducks some scoring depth and hell look to stay hot on Wednesday night when his club hosts the struggling Philadelphia Flyers.Tampa Bay Lightning 4 Winnipeg Jets 2 (Jets 19-22-4, Home 10-9-1) – The loss snapped the Jets three game home winning streak and extended their losing streak to four after the 0-3 road trip. Its the first time this season they have dropped four straight regulation games. There wasnt a lot of offensive flow to Tuesdays game with the Lightning outshooting the Jets 5-2 in the first with Valtteri Filppula opening the scoring 1:20 in. The Jets capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game 1-1. Olli Jokinen converted a Mark Scheifele pass, Jokinens 11th on the year and first power play goal of the season. For Scheifele it was his 13th point in the last 14 games. Scheifele, who had five points in his first 24 games, now has 18 in his last 22 games. Dustin Byfuglien also had an assist on the goal. There was a little more action in the second with the shots 12-7 in favour of the Lightning, with each team scoring a goal. The Jets took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal by Byfuglien, assists to Blake Wheeler and Ondrej Pavelec. Byfuglien now has 12 points, including four goals, in his last 13 games. Ondrej Palat tied the game at 15:37 on an odd man rush. The third period was all Tampa. They outshot the Jets 16-5, outscored them 2-0 and watched as the Jets frustration level boiled over. Pavelec was the only reason this game stayed close as the final shots were 33-14. Marty St. Louis on a power play made it a 3-2 game, St. Louis then added an empty net goal to put the game away. In the final 15 minutes of the third the Jets took five minor penalties and a fighting major. On the empty nnet goal Zach Bogosian lost his footing and went hard into the back boards, and headed straight for the dressing room with an upper body injury. Troy Apke Redskins Jersey. There was no post game update on his condition. The Jet had only 14 shots, their lowest total this season. Scheifele played a season high 20:56, while Devin Setoguchi saw his ice time drop to a season low 5:35. Setoguchi has not scored in 17 games. Bryan Little has now gone 11 games without a goal. Playing seven games in 12 days seems to have taken a toll on the Jets as there was not a lot of jump to their game. Bogosian and Eric Tangradi each had three shots on goal. The power play connected twice, after going zero for 13 over the last six games.   From players to coach Claude Noel, the frustration was evident in the post-game interviews. “The game was poorly played, poorly executed. We did not get anything out of that game that was positive. For us this is the worst weve played. We had nothing. It was a very empty game and we got very little production.” When asked if he got enough out of his top players, Noel said, “The whole body of work was not very good. Im not going to throw our best players under the bus. Thats not going to happen. Well look at it and try and figure out where we go from here.” The Jets do not play again until Saturday when the three-game home stand continues against Columbus (TSN 1290), with Phoenix here Monday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). Saturday will be Evander Kanes 300th NHL game. The 22-year-old has 11 points in the last 12 games, including seven goals. Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '

TORONTO -- Canada may have been within a couple of points of knocking off a Tier 1 rugby team Saturday, but there was no celebrating in the Canadian locker-room after the game. Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys . A controversial penalty in the dying minutes made sure of that. The Canadians dropped a 19-17 decision to Scotland in an international Test match at BMO Field -- a country that sits a full eight positions higher than them on the world rankings. But Canada was in position to win with five minutes to go when the referee reversed his decision on a call, after originally awarding Canada a penalty kick. "Im gutted actually for the guys, they really put it all in," said Canadian coach Kieran Crowley. "Positives are . . . we ran a Tier 1 country to two points, thats a pretty good effort." On the controversial play in the 75th minute, Canadian flanker Jebb Sinclair had the ball, his forearm made contact with Ruaridh Jackson, and the Scottish player was knocked out cold. The referee initially awarded a penalty kick to Canada, but reversed the call after reviewing video. "I dont know what you mean to do with your elbow in that situation when a guy gets his head on the wrong side," Crowley said "He refereed it how he saw it, and I thought it was the wrong decision. But thats the way he sees it." Jeff Hassler scored Canadas lone try while James Pritchard booted for 12 Canadian points. Grant Gilchrist scored the single try for Scotland, while Greig Laidlaw kicked four penalties and a conversion. Hassler scored in the 23rd minute, after Ciaran Hearn broke through the Scottish midfield and sprinted 30 metres down the sideline in front of a red-and-clad crowd of 18,788 fans -- plus the odd Scottish fan dressed in a kilt -- at BMO Field. "Its always good to get one on the board early in front of the home fans, it was a bit of a spark for us, just good team play and a good finish," Hassler said. The Canadians were looking to bounce back from a 34-25 loss to Japan in a Pacific Nations Cup game a week earlier in Burnaby, B.C. -- an ugly affair that saw the Canadians give up 25 unanswered points in the second half. While it was expected the No. 16-ranked Canadians would be in for a much tougher afternoon against the eighth-ranked Scots, they made Scotland work for the win -- the first Scottish victory on Canadian soil. "Its pretty gutting," Hassler said of the close loss. "Its not the first time weve been in that position and its something that we as a Canadian team need to improve on and start knocking off some of these teams in the last couple of minutes of the game. Locker-room is pretty disappointed, but we know were right there." Gilchrist scored in the 27th minute, muscling his way across the try line after some strong work from the Scottish forwards. Scotland took a 13-8 lead into the dressing room at halftime. Pritchard booted four penalty kicks, plus a conversion. He had a chance to give Canada the lead with 15 minutes to play, but his kick banged off the post. He made good on his next attempt to put the Canadians up 17-16. But Laidlaw booted his fourth of the day to put the Scots back on top with eight minutes to play. Stuart Hogg also had a penalty kick for the Scots, who were coming off a 24-6 victory over the United States a week earlier in Houston. "Not happy at all with the outcome," said Canadian captain Tyler Ardron. "Im sure that call (on Sinclair) is whats going to be talked a lot about this week, but in all honesty I dont think it should have come down to that. I think we should have closed it out before that and its shouldnt have made a difference." Despite the close loss, Ardron said this game didnt sit with him any better than last weeks defeat at the hands of Japan. "Its the same feeling, I think we should have won both those games, but its not good enough to sit back and say we should have won those games," he said. "We have to win them. If we want to get to where we feel we should be, thats got to be our attitude." Scotlands coach Vern Cotter admitted the call on Sinclair that reduced Canada to 14 men "changed momentum" of the game. "(The Canadians) were attacking at that stage," said Cotter, after his second game with Scotland. "Always in these games, little things make the difference. A little thing turned out to be a big thing and had a reasonably big consequence on the result." Cotter praised the Canadian side that is "developing rapidly." He added the Canadians clearly came out at the opening whistle bent on making up for last weekends disappointing result against Japan. "They were very angry, you could see in the first couple of rucks, there was a couple of exchanges, they obviously wanted to impose physically," Cotter said. "I think thats part of their team psyche, they enjoy that type of thing. "I think they played particularly well. . . theyre doing some good things." The BMO Field crowd was positive on the afternoon -- another strong rugby turnout at the lakeside venue that Canadian players have dubbed their unofficial home. Some 22,566 fans squeezed into BMO Field to watch the Maori All Blacks beat the Canadians 40-15 there last November -- a North American record crowd for the sport. Canadas loss to Ireland a few months earlier drew 20,396 fans to the stadium that is normally home to Major League Soccers Toronto FC. "It felt awesome," said Ardron, who grew up in Lakefield, Ont., just north of Peterborough. "Its so hard to comment on how good it felt now after such a devastating loss, a close game like that. But having the support behind us the whole game felt great." The game was Scotlands first victory over Canada on Canadian soil. Canada had beaten Scotland twice at home -- 24-19 in 1991 in Saint John, N.B., and 26-23 in Vancouver in 2002. Theyve met two times in Scotland, both Scottish victories -- 22-2 in Edinburgh in 1995 and 41-0 in Aberdeen in 2008. The game was halted for about 10 minutes midway through the first half while medical staff attended to Scotlands Alasdair Strokosch. Strokosch was eventually wheeled off the pitch on a stretcher. The Canadians face the United States next Saturday in a Pacific Nations Cup game in Sacramento, Calif. Sammy Watkins Jersey .com) - Coming off a pair of tough losses last week, the Syracuse Orange will try to put an end to their first losing skid of the season when they pay a visit to the Maryland Terrapins at the Comcast Center on Monday night in Atlantic Coast Conference action. Custom Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys . MLB executive Joe Torre ruled on Tuesday nights game at Wrigley Field that was called after 4 1-2 innings. The Cubs were declared the winners by a 2-0 score. Now, it is instead a suspended game that will resume at 4:05 p.TORONTO -- Toronto FC thought long and hard about bringing Dwayne De Rosario home. The teams all-time leading scorer, DeRo has won everything there is to win in MLS. But the former league MVP is 35 and made a whopping US$654,300 last season. Plus he left Toronto on bad terms in 2011. In the end, the conclusion was the attacking midfielder would be a welcome asset if he were to agree to a new role and reduced contract number. It seems everyone is on the same page, with Toronto choosing the former D.C. United star in Stage 2 of the MLS re-entry draft Wednesday. The move came after some careful discussion. "Tim B (general manager Tim Bezbatchenko) and I got on the phone with Dwayne a couple of weeks ago and had a good hour conversation about what it is he wants to do, what happened here (in his first stint) and where were trying to go," Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment boss Tim Leiweke told The Canadian Press on Wednesday. "And we aired it all out." The next step was for De Rosario to speak to manager Ryan Nelsen, to hear his vision for the future. While Toronto had yet to get his signature on a contract as of the re-entry draft announcement, Leiweke talked as if a deal was all but done. "I think (Bezbatchenko) and Dwayne and Dwaynes agent did a very good job of trying to find a fair deal," he said. "And to Dwaynes credit, he understands that if this is about winning, we had to have enough room left within our (salary) cap to add a couple more pieces here. "And I believe they have found a deal that will do that ... A lot of credit to Dwayne. He probably could get paid more elsewhere. But he chose to come to Toronto because he likes what were building here. And boy is that a change. "For a guy that left because he didnt like what we were doing, to come back because he likes what were doing, I think says an awful lot about Tim B and Nellie and the job theyve done this off-season." Teams have seven days to make a "bona fide offer" to players selected in Stage 2 of the re-entry draft. If an agreement cant be reached, the club holds the right of first refusal for that player in MLS. De Rosario became available when D.C. United opted not to pick up his option at the end of the season. Playing for the leagues worst team in 2013, the Canadian had three goals and two assists in 24 games. De Rosario currently ranks sixth on the all-time MLS scoring list with 103 goals. Contrast that with the current TFC roster, which has a combined 37 career MLS goals. Money has played a key role in De Rosarios history with Toronto. In his first go-round at Toronto, he made US$443,750 in 2010 while fellow Canadian Julian de Guzman made $1.7 million as a designated player. It seemed an inequity to everyone but Toronto FC, with player and club disagreeing whether there had been an agreement to rewrite his contract. De Rosario shone a spotlight on his money concerns when he celebrated a goal in a 3-2 home loss to the San Jose Earthquakes in September 2010 by pretending to sign a cheque. He later apologized for the move, which Tom Anselmi, then MLSE executive vice-president and COO, called disappointing and unacceptable. Two games into the 2011 season, he was traded to the New York Red Bulls. The De Rosario selection Wednesday was the latest in a flurry of TFC moves. Brazilian striker Gilberto is on board as a designated player with England and Spurs striker Jermain Defoe expected to announce his allegiance in the January transfer window. Toronto has also acquired MLS experience in the form of Brazilian midfielder Jackson and defender Justin Morrow while picking up draft picks in trading away the rights of goalkeeper Stefan Frei and midfielder Bobby Convey. Toronto is not looking for DeRo to be the face of the team. That job will fall to its final designated player signing -- read Defoe, if all goes well. De Rosarios role on the field will likely be that as a third striker, while playing a veterans role in the locker-room. Signing DeRo would be seen by many local fans as righting a past wrong. It also helps signal that Toronto is a worthy destination. As Nelsen said at the Gilberto signing, players look to the future rather than the post. Which is good considering Torontos MLS record since De Rosario was traded away is 16-50-34. Much has changed since then. Only two playerss (Ashtone Morgan and Doneil Henry) remain from the matchday 18 of De Rosarios last game in a Toronto shirt -- a 2-0 win over Portland on March 26, 2011. Stefan Charles Jersey. De Rosario has also matured. For years, he looked to protect his own brand. A playmaker with a scoring touch, De Rosario is a game changer who can carve open a defence for a teammate, or score himself with his feet or head, from inside or outside the penalty box Because of his passport and other vagaries, he never made it in Europe. While he became a star in MLS, for a long time he believed he was not getting the compensation or recognition he deserved. These days, he seems more comfortable in his own skin. During a Canadian national team camp last January in Arizona, De Rosario went out of his way to help a roster of young teammates. When fullback Andres Fresenga was writhing in agony after being scythed down in a tackle, De Rosario was there to see if he was OK -- even though he was on the opposing team. After the session, he made a point of connecting with every single teammate. He can do the same in Toronto, which is home to young Canadian internationals in Kyle Bekker, Henry, Morgan and Jonathan Osorio. "Hes not going to necessarily be THE guy," Leiweke said of De Rosario. "But hes a team player and he wants to win and he made that clear to us. I was very impressed by that. "He doesnt talk about going out in style because I dont think he thinks like that. But I think he wants to win. And he knows were really committed to it here. "And were ferocious at chasing guys now that can help is get this team into the playoffs." The team does not expect De Rosario to become a wall flower "Look I dont mind the fact that were building a team with personality," said Leiweke. "I like that. I like teams with personality. I also understand that we take a bit of risk here as to what if it doesnt work out. "But I believe in the conversation we had with him, there will be enough understanding and communication with him where he understands his role and accepts it. And thrives to be the guy to teach young kids how to win." Leiweke also recognized De Rosario gives the team "more of a home-town Canadian feel thats important to us." The 13-year MLS veteran has played 324 regular-season and 24 playoff games in MLS. He started his career with San Jose and Houston, winning four league titles. Toronto first acquired De Rosario in 2009 from Houston in exchange for defender Julius James and allocation money. He went on to score 27 goals in 57 games for Toronto, a club record, before being traded early in the 2011 season by then head coach Aron Winter and director of player development Paul Mariner. "I am sorry to the wonderful and passionate fans at TFC about my departure to NY Red Bulls," De Rosario said at the time in a post on his Facebook fan page. "Just wanted to say it has truly been an honour coming back home & playing for my home crowd." De Rosario, who had scored 15 of Torontos 33 goals in 2010, was shipped out in exchange for midfielder Tony Tchani, defender-midfielder Danleigh Borman and a first-round pick. He finished 2011 with D.C. United, winning the Golden Boot as the leagues top scorer and MVP honours. De Rosario became the first player in MLS history to score for three different teams in one year. He also was the first MVP in North American pro sports history to play for three different teams in one season, according to MLS. A finalist for MVP in 2005 and 2006, he has been chosen to the leagues Best XI six times. De Rosario has captured MLS Goal of the Year honours twice, in 2004 and 2005. He won the MLS Cup in 2001 and 2003 with San Jose and 2006 and 2007 with Houston, earning MLS Cup MVP honours in 2001 and 2007. He is a member of the select club of 100-goal snipers in MLS. He even set a record for fastest league hat trick (goals in the 22nd, 27th and 31st minutes against Real Salt Lake in 2012). He turned pro at age 18 in 1997, signing with the Toronto Lynx of the A-League. D.C. United opened Wednesdays draft by taking Red Bulls forward Fabian Espindola before choosing Canadian international defender Nana Attakora. The Vancouver Whitecaps selected midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy (San Jose). Former Whitecaps forward Corey Hertzog went to Seattle. Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '

BUFFALO, N. Rashaan Gaulden Panthers Jersey .Y. - The Buffalo Sabres just cant seem to score against Roberto LuongoLuongo stopped 26 shots for his 67th career shutout — fourth against Buffalo — to lead the Florida Panthers to a 1-0 win over the Sabres on Friday night for their first victory of the season.Luongo, who moved past Patrick Roy into sole possession of 13th place on the career shutouts list, extended his scoreless streak against the Sabres to 183 minutes, 19 seconds. Its crazy, Luongo said. I dont know if its a comfort level thing or whatnot, but its nice especially to get our first win like that.Sean Bergenheim scored in the second period for the games only goal, sending an odd-angled wrist shot between Mike Webers legs and past Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth.Enroth finished with 34 saves for Buffalo.Florida coach Gerard Gallant got his first win with the Panthers. Its good, Gallant said. Its not fun when you lose but its a fresh year. Still a bit of a slower start but this is a big road trip to get things going the right way.The Panthers had the first six shots of the game before Buffalo went on a power play and forced Luongo into his first two saves of the night.A giveaway in his own slot by Marcus Foligno gave Tomas Fleischmann a 1-on-1 with Enroth midway through the first, but the Sabres goalie made a right pad save to keep the game scoreless.Luongo was called upon to make a pair of close-range shots on Matt Moulson early in the second.Foligno had a wraparound attempt in the third periods first minute, but Luongo slid over to stop the puck with his left pad.You got that guy back there and your team is so much more confident, said Panthers defenceman Erik Gudbranson. He made really good saves all night. Its amazing how he tracks the puck within those scrambles and is able to come up with pretty key saves. The Sabres wasted a prime opportunity when they had a 5-on-3 power play for 49 seconds in the third period. Luongo made a pair of saves before Erik Gudbransons penalty expired, then three more by the time Chris Stewart ended the power play by taking down Upshall in the slot.(Luongo) made four, five saves in the third period, like real key saves for us, Gallant said. Especially that 3-on-5 when the guys did a great job killing that so those were definitely key points in the hockey game and I thought our group stood up real good.Buffalo again had a slow start, with just three first-period shots on goal, and failed to build on Tuesdays win in Carolina. Were definitely not happy, Sabres coach Ted Nolan said. No ones going to help us get out of this thing except for ourselves. We got a good group of guys. We just got to learn we have to compete and we have to work. Were not a fancy team. With Floridas Aaron Ekblad and Buffalos Sam Reinhart, the game also marked the earliest season match-up between the NHLs No. 1 and No. 2 draft picks since 1997, when Bostons Joe Thornton and San Joses Patrick Marleau faced off.Luongo, drafted No. 4 overall that year, began the day with a 1.93 goals against average, .938 save percentage in 19 career games against the Sabres. He shut out the Sabres in his first game with Florida on March 7 after blanking Buffalo with Vancouver exactly a year ago.The Sabres havent scored against the Panthers in 132:24, dating back three games to Jan. 21.Florida has now won four straight games against the Sabres, and four straight in Buffalo. The Sabres have lost all three home games to start the season after losing their first nine last season, a franchise worst. When things aint going good, our confidence kind of lacks a little bit, Nolan said. I dont think we put two passes together all night long. Our confidence is a little bit rattled. Jarius Wright Jersey .B. -- Canadas Rachel Homan had ideal preparation for the playoffs at the Ford World Curling Championships with a pair of hard-fought wins over tenacious opponents Thursday. Daeshon Hall Panthers Jersey . He made the comment at a media availability Saturday prior to Game 2 of the Boston-Montreal playoff series when a Quebec reporter said there is sentiment in Quebec that the NHL looks more favourably on Seattle than Quebec City when it comes to future expansion.TORONTO – Doing just enough to lose hockey games, the Maple Leafs playoff chances are dangling on an ever-thinning thread. They matched their second-longest losing skid of the year on Saturday evening, making an error too many in their fourth straight loss, a stinging 4-3 defeat to Montreal at the ACC. Falling further back of the Canadiens – now a five-point gap – and the surging Lightning for the final two spots in the Atlantic division, Toronto is hanging onto to the first wild card position in the East, in danger of falling out altogether if change doesnt come soon enough. “Weve been close, but close isnt good enough right now,” said Dion Phaneuf of four straight losses, all against fellow Eastern contenders vying for a spot in the post-season. Like in narrow losses to Washington, Detroit and Tampa previously, the Leafs shot themselves in the foot just a time or too many on this night, dropping the season series to Montreal in the process. “The margin of error now in these games is so, so, so close that one bounce or one misplay or one unfortunate mistake cost us points,” said head coach Randy Carlyle afterward. A stumbling start and more ineffective goaltending certainly didnt help matters, but it was simple errors in execution that ultimately set the stage for another defeat. Most notable among them were mistakes from two of the teams best players. There was an early and careless neutral zone turnover from Phil Kessel that fed the Canadiens first goal and a later failure from Dion Phaneuf to clear the puck that found the back of the net on Tomas Plekanecs eventual game-winner. “We worked hard,” said Carlyle, his team rallying from a pair of deficits. “[But] we have to work equally as hard and clean up some of the mistakes that we make. Turn the puck over in the neutral ice and it comes back to haunt you. Make a mistake on a turnover penalty killing and it comes back and haunts you. Those are difference-makers in the games and thats what happens when the intensity ramps up in all these games.” Running wild with points in the weeks before and after the Olympic break, Toronto had not lost four straight since the early days of January. They vaulted to 11 wins in 14 games after that stinging streak, requiring a similar resurgence now to keep hold of a second straight playoff berth. The sky may be falling in certain pockets of the city with memories of the infamous 18-wheeler still fresh, but in reality the Leafs situation is not dire to the point that they cant right themselves with 10 games to play. Theyve lost a series of close games of late, doing just enough to lose on each given night. Losses count the same though and that tide – now trending in the negative with clubs in Detroit, Washington and Columbus hunting them down – has to start shifting for the better in a hurry with the Devils up next on Sunday night. “Were still in a good spot,” said Phaneuf, ever optimistic afterward. “Obviously weve slid a little bit because of not winning games, but were still right there.” Five Points 1. Stunted Starts Toronto allowed the first goal for the sixth consecutive game and 37th time this season, actually falling behind by two for the fourth time in those six games. And while they managed to erase that deficit in short order, the trend of digging early holes is a definite negative at this point in the year and any point for that matter. “Its tough coming back,” said James Reimer of the constant need for rallies. “Weve proven that we can do it. Weve got enough character and desire in here to fight back in games, but it obviously makes it a lot tougher on ourselves.” Capitalizing on Kessels giveaway on the opener from Max Pacioretty, Montreal jumped ahead by two on a Rene Bourque breakaway, the Canadiens winger storming by the pair of Cody Franson and Jake Gardiner before beating Reimer with a weak shot glove-side. “I think maybe we just all need to be a little sharper when it starts and obviously me included,” said Reimer. The Leafs dropped to 11-22-4 when yielding the first goal this season. 2. Just Okay Reimers inability to fill the hole left by Jonathan Bernier continued Saturday with the 26-year-old yielding four goals on 36 shots. He owns a .899 save percentage during six appearances in place of the teams injured No. 1. Though he made some fine stops in allowing his team to rally from the early 2-0 hole – including a glove stop just moments before Joffrey Lupul scored the Leafs first goal – Reimer ultimately could not deliver enough of the timely big saves required for victory. This was evident on Plekanecs game-winner. Reimer slid right to left on Andrei Markovs cross-ice feed to Plekanec, but could not keep the shot – from just above the goal-line – from finding a slight hole. “I feel like its a tough bounce,” he said. “Obviously they made a good play to put it through the seam, but I thought I gave myself a chance to get over there, but it just found a way through.” Reimer remains winless on home ice since Jan. 15, last winning a start on Jan. 21. Bernier meanwhile continues to inch back from a groin injury, but not quickly enough for the teams recent fortunes. The 25-year-old skated for a third straight day Saturday morning, but will miss his fifth straight game Sunday against the Devils. “He still has some issues as far as hes not 100 per cent,” said Carlyle, &lldquo;so until hes 100 per cent hes not available to us. Torrey Smith Panthers Jersey. ” 3. Slow Ride A slogging rehabilitation of nearly five months finally came to an end Saturday for Dave Bolland, who returned to the Toronto lineup against Montreal. It was the first game for the 27-year-old since Nov. 2, when a tendon on the outside of his left ankle was sliced by the skate blade of Canucks forward Zack Kassian. He missed 56 games. “Hes progressed along over the last three weeks to a point where he feels and the doctors feel medically thats he close to a 100 per cent ready,” said Carlyle, wary of driving up expectations for Bolland, a favourite of his upon landing with the Leafs last summer. “I dont want to put too much emphasis on him specifically because when a player hasnt played in 60 games its a lot to ask of him to come back in and be where he wouldve been coming out of training camp and playing with our hockey club early in the season.” Bollands addition gave Carlyle his first full group of forwards at any point this season with neither injuries nor suspensions on the docket. All of which allowed him to comfortably employ four lines in the fashion he may have imagined at the start of the year. Indicative of a balanced attack and a considerable shift from recent weeks and much of the year, Colton Orr was the lone forward to play fewer than eight minutes against Montreal. “It gives you a little bit more depth throughout your lineup, a veteran guy, and it kind of slots people more into where we envisioned them at the beginning of the year,” said Carlyle, who reunited Bolland with Mason Raymond and David Clarkson. Bolland, whom the Leafs made room for by sending Carter Ashton and Peter Holland to the Marlies, was lost to injury in early November just a week after Tyler Bozak went out with a hamstring issue, drastically affecting the teams depth at centre ice. He played nine minutes against the Canadiens, keeping his shift lengths short at just 33 seconds. “That first shift was probably the hardest,” Bolland said. “Its getting the timing and figuring things out out there. You sort of got to get used to it. I think the heartbeat was hurting a little bit too.” 4. Secondary Offence Joffrey Lupul and Nazem Kadri had combined for four goals in the previous 14 games, but landed a pair against the Canadiens. Lupul fired a rocket by Carey Price for the Leafs first goal midway through the first, Kadri depositing a feed from his 30-year-old teammate on a power play goal later which evened the score at three. With Phil Kessel and the teams top line cooling some in recent days – they did account for the second Toronto goal with Tyler Bozak notching his 16th – contributions from the likes of Lupul and Kadri will be required in the final weeks of the regular season. Toronto forwards had only seven goals in the previous six games, but accounted for all three on Saturday. 5. Ranger on the Mend Paul Ranger was in predictable shock in the immediate aftermath, but realized hed be okay when he was able to move his legs, hands and feet. Reversing to his left with less than five seconds remaining in the first period of a Wednesday tilt with Tampa, the 29-year-old was drilled from behind by Lightning forward Alex Killorn. He was helped off the ice on a stretcher, his teammates looking on with concern. “I remember just feeling pain,” said Ranger, suffering a neck injury on the play. “I know that my body and my mind just went into preservation mode. All I could think was just dont move, stay straight and breathe. I just kind of breathed three in, three out for the next 3-4 hours.” Ranger was taken to a local hospital that night, assessed and discharged. He remained off the ice for a third straight day Saturday and did not play against the Canadiens, his impending return to the line-up uncertain. Though he received word from Killorn in the aftermath of the collision, believing that no harm was intended, the Whitby, Ontario native nonetheless hopes that hits from behind receive more attention and study for improvement. “I think its something that happens a lot in our game and its dangerous,” he said. “Im thankful Im really strong physically and really fit and I think that really helped and probably saved me a little bit in this situation. I wouldnt want anyone else to go through that period, but especially someone whos maybe not as strong or not as heavy you could say.” Stats-Pack 212 – Man games lost to injury for the Leafs this season, including 56 from Dave Bolland, who returned from an ankle injury against Montreal. 2-2-1 – Leafs record versus the Canadiens this season. 9:01 – Ice-time for Dave Bolland in his first game since Nov. 2. .899 – Save percentage for James Reimer since Jonathan Bernier went out with injury. 5 – Number of 20-goal seasons for Joffrey Lupul, who scored his 20th of the year against Montreal. 8:54 – Ice-time for David Clarkson on Saturday, his lowest of the season. 11-22-4 – Leafs record this season when they allow the first goal. Special Teams Capsule PP: 1-2 Season: 20.7% (T-4th) PK: 2-2 Season: 78.5% (28th) Quote of the Night “Weve been close, but close isnt good enough right now.” - Dion Phaneuf, following the Leafs fourth straight loss. He was 36. The former Tennessee Titans player died Saturday night when he lost control on a curve in his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali and crashed after 11 p.m. less than a mile from home, Metro Nashville Police said. In a statement on the department website, police said his SUV was speeding when it went off the road and hit a line of trees before coming to a stop upside down in a culvert. Bironas was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene. The Titans released Bironas in March after nine seasons. The Tennessean reported that Bironas worked out for the Detroit Lions and for Tampa Bay during the off-season. Bironas married Rachel Bradshaw, daughter of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, in June. Police spokesman Don Aaron said a police chaplain was with her after the crash. Bradshaw did not appear on the "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame show and was going to Nashville to be with his daughter. A post on his verified Twitter account, (at)RobBironas, stated Sunday morning: "Its w/ heavy hearts that we confirm the passing RB . 2 We appreciate your respect for the familys privacy and your prayers at this time." The Titans extended their condolences while it prepared to play a game at Cincinnati. "Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field," the team said in a statement. Playing a few hours after they received the sad news, the Titans lost to the Bengals 33-7 on Sunday, falling to 1-2 with their worst performance of the season. "It was real tough, with him being on the team all those years," running back Shonn Greene said. "We had some of our motivation and energy to play for him. It didnt work out." Quarterback Jake Locker had a particularly rough time, going 17 of 34 for 185 yards with two sacks and two interceptions, one of them thrown into a crowd in the end zone. "Its one of those things that give you perspective," Locker said. "It reminds you to be thankful for the people in your life. Rob was a charismatic guy that always brought smiles to peoples faces around the building. Its tough to see it happen to someone so young, who was jjust recently married. Ben Woodburn Jersey. You feel for him and his loved ones that are left behind." Nashville Mayor Karl Dean noted that Bironas was a favourite of the fans. "I got to know Rob through the many community events he supported in our city," Dean said in a statement. "He was down to earth, and it was clear he loved Nashville. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family." Reaction poured out on Twitter, with former teammates, friends and fans remembering the kicker. "Shocked and saddened this morning at the passing of Rob Bironas," country singer Carrie Underwood wrote. "Such a nice guy. Sending prayers and love to his family... RB . 2" Titans cornerback Jason McCourty wrote on the Twitter account he shares with brother Devin of the New England Patriots: "Rest in peace to my former teammate Rob Bironas." Bironas was the fourth most-accurate kicker in NFL history, connecting on 85.7 per cent of his kicks (239 of 279). Only David Akers made more field goals (247) between 2005 and 2013 than Bironas. For kickers with 100 or more field goals since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, Bironas ranked third making 75.2 per cent of his kicks from 40 yards or longer (94 of 125). He finished as the Titans second leading career scorer with 1,032 points, and he set a franchise record scoring triple digits in seven straight seasons. He also set an NFL record in 2011 in hitting a field goal from at least 40 yards in 10 consecutive games. Bironas made a franchise-record 11 winning field goals during his career, including a 60-yarder against the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 that remains the longest field goal in Oilers or Titans history. Bironas kicked an NFL single-game record eight field goals in a 2007 victory over the Houston Texans, including a 29-yard game-winner as time expired. That helped him make his only Pro Bowl, the same year he was an Associated Press All-Pro. He went to Auburn and transferred to Georgia Southern, where he won a Division I-AA national title. Bironas went to work for his fathers company in Louisville, Kentucky, and was cut by Green Bay in 2002. He played in the Arena Football League and even the AF2 while spending time in training camps with Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh working as a part-time security guard and other jobs while trying to stick with an NFL team. He won a roster spot with the Titans in 2005. "To play in the NFL," he said in 2006, "was the ultimate goal." Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '

TORONTO - Logan Couture doesnt have to look far to be reminded of the San Jose Sharks playoff collapse against the Los Angeles Kings. Tyler Thornburg Red Sox Jersey . His surgically repaired right hand still has scars from last months surgery, and the recovery has been slow. He expects the hand, injured in a fight with Kings centre Mike Richards, to be OK by training camp. And Couture works out with Kings defenceman Drew Doughty, who was set to have his day with the Stanley Cup on Friday. Doughty doesnt chirp his good friend, but that doesnt stop Couture from thinking about the painful first-round series loss. "I think every time I see hockey on TV or read about it in the paper," he said. The Sharks were in command of the series, up three games to none. But they proceeded to become the just the fourth team in NHL history to blow that lead. The Kings won the Cup, and the Sharks were left to wonder what went wrong. Couture doesnt ponder what he and his teammates couldve done differently. The thoughts are more simple than that. "I just think about how much it hurts," he said Thursday night at Dominic Moores Smashfest charity event. "The feelings arent going to go away — probably never. Its just something that sticks with you for a long time." In time, Couture thinks the collapse should serve as motivation for the Sharks who remain. For now, at least, that includes captain Joe Thornton and veteran winger Patrick Marleau, whose new contracts start next season and include full no-move clauses. San Jose general manager Doug Wilson has talked about rebuilding and going younger. In the process the Sharks traded 38-year-old defenceman Dan Boyles free-agent rights, traded 34-year-old defenceman Brad Stuart and bought out 33-year-old winger Marty Havlat. In free agency, the Sharks signed enforcer John Scott in an effort to "act as a deterrent and help keep teams and opposing players honest," according to Wilson. The vast majority of the roster looks similar to the one that finished the playoffs, though San Jose hopes to have defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic back after his injury and will move Brent Burns back to the blue-line. "We knew something was going to happen. Every year changes happen," Couture said. "Well see what happens going forward. Some things may happen, some things may not, so well see." One thing that may happen in the not-too-distant future is Couture becoming the captain. The Sharks took the "C" off Marleau four years ago and he has continued to play and produce, so that concept isnt far-fetched for Thornton, as well. Couture, who served as captain of the OHLs Ottawa 67s, has had conversations with Wilson this summer but said he had not been specifically asked to increase his leadership role. "I think its just expected," the 25-year-old Guelph, Ont., native said. "I think each year you play more with an organization youre expected to take on more of that role. Those are kind of the things that dont have to be said." Couture will begin his new US$30-million, five-year contract this season and hopes that his tenure in San Jose is a long one. With that, he anticipates a larger role in the locker-room and on the ice. "I think I learned a lot from the leaders on our team in San Jose the last couple of years and taking small things from them and try to be a leader as much as I can with our team with our young guys," Couture said. "Weve got a lot of leaders on that team, a lot of veteran players, so I think well be fine." --- Follow @SWhyno on Twitter Wade Boggs Red Sox Jersey . Louis and Ryan Kesler have demanded to be traded. Ted Williams Red Sox Jersey . MIAMI -- Right-hander Bryan Morris was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Miami Marlins, who gave up the 39th overall pick in Thursdays draft. Will Compton Jersey . Miami also placed catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the seven-day concussion list Sunday and recalled catcher J.T. Realmuto from Double-A Jacksonville. Saltalamacchia was hurt when he took a foul tip off his face mask in Saturdays game against Atlanta. Morris will join the Marlins on Monday and is expected to give their struggling bullpen a boost. Through Saturday, Miamis relievers ranked 21st in the majors with an ERA of 3.96, while the starters ranked 10th with an ERA of 3.70. "Weve had some issues in the bullpen, and we just wanted to make it deeper," president of baseball operations Mike Hill said. Morris is 4-0 with a 3.80 ERA in 21 games this year, and he has a career ERA of 3.46 in 81 games. He was a first-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2006. "Weve seen a lot of him," Hill said. "He was a first-round pick out of high school -- a power arm up to 97, and a power curveball behind that." The Marlins traded away their third pick in the draft. They still have six of the first 107 picks. Realmuto, a third-round pick in 2010, batted .301 with five homers and 31 RBIs for Jacksonville. "We want to try to get him in a couple of games," manager Mike Redmond said. "Were hoping that Salty is just a short-term deal, but you never know with concussions." Saltalamacchia batted only .177 in May, dropping his average for the season to .237, and he has committed eight errors. Titans Jerseys . - Mathew Barzal scored 3:47 into overtime as the Seattle Thunderbirds downed the visiting Everett Silvertips 4-3 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League playoff action. Dion Lewis Titans Jersey . TORONTO - Dwane Casey was visibly put off when faced with a question regarding his teams recent success and their upcoming stretch of winnable games prior to Mondays contest against the league-worst Milwaukee Bucks. Robert Quinn Dolphins Jersey . "[People] keep asking that question and its not a legit question because we dont have that right, we havent arrived yet," Casey responded. "Weve got to take each game at a time, each possession at a time and look at it that way." "Thats the message Im sending to [the players]. Weve got to play basketball and be focused and not look at records." League standings are not welcome in the locker room, Casey maintained. If they were, they would show the Raptors in sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference, just barely ahead of the Hawks, following a decisive 116-94 victory over the seven-win Bucks. Since an early-December trade reversed their trajectory, Casey has kept his team focused. They have defeated the leagues best in wins over the Thunder and Pacers, they have fought hard on the road in Indiana and Miami and, perhaps most importantly, theyve taken care of business against teams that many may have expected them to look past. They havent. "No, you cant [take anyone lightly]," DeMar DeRozan said following a 19-point, seven-rebound, seven-assist performance in his teams 22-point win. "It doesnt matter who we play, its an NBA team. Besides us theres 29 other teams in this league and we prepare for each one of them the same." Casey is getting through to his troops, whether they realize it or not. "He said that [too]?" DeRozan asked with a smile after echoing his coach. "Im just being honest. I tell my guys the same thing, we dont look at who were playing. We understand each game matters more than the last one." Its not just lip service, the Raptors have been practicing what they preach. Apart from a short-lived Bucks run that cut the home teams lead to eight at halftime, the Raptors never took their foot off the gas. Their 38-point first frame matched a season-high for scoring in a quarter and the game was quickly put away early in the third after Toronto adjusted to the Bucks pesky zone defence. "We cant rely on that every night," Casey said of the teams second-half run. "That resolve, it doesnt win too many games against good teams so weve got to make sure we take care of business, and we did." "I think we came out with more effort in the second half and it seemed to work for us," said Kyle Lowry, who scored 11 of his team-high 23 points in the third quarter. Again, Lowry was exceptional, shooting 6-of-8 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and connecting on all seven of his free-throw attempts. The Raptors point guard also recorded four steals and drew his league-leading 23rd charge of the season. "Just another night at the office for Kyle," Casey said. [The] charges are huge. If you go in there hes going to come from nowhere to get a charge so he does a great job of that, reading that, sacrificing his body for it. Hes done everything, defensively, offensively, hes set the tone." The playmaking ability of DeRozan - who registered four or more assists in a career-best sixth straight game - and John Salmons, adding five dimes along with his 10 points off the bench, took pressure off the Raptors point guard, freeing Lowry up on the weak side. As a team, the Raptors tallied 26 assists, shooting 51 per cent from the field and 12-of-23 from beyond the arch. Although Casey doesnt want to hear about it, Torontos next four opponents have losing records. The Raptors have won 10 of its last 11 games against sub-.500 teams and dont appear to be letting up.  "Im going to say this again, we dont have any right, yet, to overlook anyone in this league," Casey repeated after his team improved to 19-17, two games above the .500 mark for the first time since March of 2010. "Its a tough league, were still building, were still getting there so I cant allow our guys to have that in their thought process." Durham Smythe Dolphins Jersey . Sources tell TSN that union executives travelled to select CFL cities Monday to open dialogue with players and answer questions. After the tentative deal was reached Saturday night, several players posted messages of frustration and disappointment on social media - and that carried over into Sunday on both the web and the field. A.J. Olympic hockey management team have been making what he called "ghost rosters" since August.PHOENIX -- Tony La Russa has never missed the managing part of baseball since retiring in 2011. He did miss the competition and, most particularly, the winning. Thats what drew him back to the big leagues. Bolstering their front office, the Arizona Diamondbacks hired La Russa as their chief baseball officer on Saturday, hoping the Hall of Fame manager can help turn around the team after one of the worst starts in franchise history. "Its the first day I woke up and I felt a difference," La Russa said. "Because for the first time since then youre back with an organization and at the end of the day youre going to be judged by how well your contribution is to the organizations competition. Thats how I grew up." La Russa last worked as a manager in 2011, walking away after leading the St. Louis Cardinals to their second World Series title with him at the helm. He spent time working for Major League Baseball as a special assistant to Commissioner Bud Selig and was itching to get back into baseball on a day-to-day basis, appearing at Diamondbacks games a few times the past few weeks. La Russa will report to Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall and oversee the entire baseball operations department. He will work with general manager Kevin Towers and manager Kirk Gibsoon in shaping the future of the Diamondbacks, who were 16-28 heading into Saturday nights game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jerome Baker Jersey. "It is going to take time, but I think having him here and helping us lead this department, it looks good for us," Hall said. "Any decisions that are going to be made personnel wise, hes going to have final say." La Russa won three World Series titles and six league championships and was a four-time manager of the year in 33 seasons before retiring in 2011. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July and is third with 2,728 wins as a manager and second with 70 post-season wins. La Russa played parts of six seasons in the majors before starting a managerial career that began in 1979 with the Chicago White Sox and took him to Oakland and St. Louis, where he won World Series rings in 2006 and 2011. He also won a title with the As in 1989, joining Sparky Anderson as the only two managers to win World Series in both leagues. "I understand the levels of decision making," La Russa said. "And all Im saying here is that you include everybody in the process. But I think the advantage that we hope to have is that everybody on the competitive side is working from the same thought philosophy."Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap Jerseys Store Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Black Jerseys NFL Jerseys From China ' ' '
